Welcome behind the scenes of morena isabel. From designing, pattern making and sewing in our Zurich atelier to working with our carefully selected production partner near Porto, every step is guided by care, craftsmanship and a commitment to responsible fashion.
Inspiration strikes us in the most beautiful moments – during travels, walks in nature, or when we touch new fabrics. Our design process is a blend of the old-school charm of paper and pen, where we create silhouettes and combine them with our favorite drapes and colors. This phase is about creating a mood and lifestyle that we want to transfer into our collections.
Have you ever thought about how complex it is to draw a pattern? We create all our patterns by hand and add the grading ourselves. The most fascinating part is how a flat 2D pattern transforms into a 3D garment.
We source our beautiful fabrics mainly online, with a keen eye for sustainability. Every piece of fabric we use in our collections is chosen with care, and we have a soft spot for linen, lyocell fibers and organic cotton fabrics. Most of our fabrics are made in europe and we have a good business relationship with our suppliers. The variety of colors and fabric types ensures that we mostly find something perfectly suitable for our designs. Whenever possible we use organic fabrics with sustainability certifications or dead stock fabrics.
This is where the magic happens!
The heart of our Zurich atelier lies in the gentle hum of sewing machines and the careful, concentrated steps involved in crafting each piece. Our small-batch collections, special colours and selected garments are cut out by hand, pinned together and then sewn with precision. We cherish this tranquil step and often accompany it with a good audiobook or podcast. While time seems to fly during sewing, every stitch brings us closer to the end product. We use industrial sewing machines and an industrial iron, but rest assured, they don’t sew by themselves.
Each step is managed with care and takes time. Whether it’s sewing on a button, creating an invisible hem or crafting a buttonhole, handcrafting our garments brings us immense joy.
Our signature basics are made by our carefully selected production partner near Porto, using our own designs, patterns and chosen fabrics.
We handle all aspects of marketing ourselves. We love to connect with our community on Instagram and share the journey of our creations. Our size and brand labels, made from organic cotton, are made in Portugal and handsewn into every garment. You can find our collections prêt-à-porter in our store at Badenerstrasse 76 in Zurich.
